Cheap Travel to Europe: A Thaw in Prices to "Frozen" Land

There is cheap travel to Europe available to those seeking a trip to the great white north! The prices seemed to have risen and frozen, but now Norwegian is coming out with some very nice looking prices!

Visitnorway .com has some very good looking prices for trips across from the United States.  If you look above, you'll see that from April to May, you can get from New York for as low as $454. This is a fantastic price! Apparently the movie "Frozen" put out recently by Disney has pushed an interest in Norway. The movie, by the way, is really great and sure to be enjoyed by the whole family. While Norway is quite cold during the winter and is generally FROZEN until mid-Spring, this is good news if you like skiing or alpine activities. The mountains are beautiful for downhill skiing and the whole nation seems obsessed with cross-country skiing. Their skiers and winter olympians are as well known as sprinters and baseball players in America.

In addition to the natural beauty, Norway and Scandanavia in general, are great places to travel. Public transport is very efficient (though not always cheap).  The rate of people who know English is among the highest in the world, so asking for directions or help is never a problem. Hotels are not cheap, but hostels are plentiful in the cities and many alternative accommodations are available through airbnb, couchsurfing, or even cabins and national parks. Depending on when you go, how cold it is and how good your equipment is, you can also camp in many places. However, be cautious that your gear is sufficient to keep you warm.

If you are trying to get to the European mainland cheaply, this may take some creativity. Oslo isn't the most ideal gateway city in Europe. There are easy connections to other cities in Scandanavia by ground. These, however, are among the most expensive in Europe. Ryanair has flights out of Rygge/Moss airport about 50 miles outside of Oslo. They even sell bus tickets from Oslo main station to the airport for 15 EUR each way if you decide to fly south from there.

If you decide to take advantage of this extremely cheap travel to Europe it wouldn't be bad to stay in Norway for the duration of your time. You won't be making a mistake. It's a beautiful, wild land with friendly people. For $454, why not go and see for yourself?
